About IABC

Setting a standard of excellence since 1970, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a vibrant global membership association with thousands of members from around the world, representing many Fortune 500 companies.

IABC serves professionals in the field of business communication, bringing together the profession’s collective disciplines around marketing, PR, crisis communications, speech writing, executive communications, video and visual communication, internal communications and more. We create the global standard in communication through our educational offerings, certification, awards program, resource library, online magazine and annual IABC World Conference. IABC goal is to support the community of business communication professionals with innovative thinking, shared best practices, in-depth learning and career guidance.

About the IABCLA Chapter

Our mission: To converge the LA professional communicator market by orchestrating excellent professional development events that heighten the skills and talents of the community through human connection.

As part of the 14,000-member IABC Los Angeles serves the entire Los Angeles Metropolitan area including Downtown, South Bay, San Fernando Valley, Westside and points in between. Our chapter is part of the Pacific Plains region of the IABC.

Our members work in the public and private sectors as consultants, independent business owners, and corporate staff in such diverse fields as marketing, advertising, corporate communications, government relations, human resource communications and shareholder relations.

Members share a commitment to continuing professional development and a desire to work together to build a strong, diverse and experienced group of communicators.



IABCLA is run by an all-volunteer board of current members. We welcome your ideas and suggestions and encourage your participation. Please contact any board member if you have questions, comments or suggestions. IABCLA is governed by a board of volunteers according to IABC bylaws and the chapter’s own bylaws. Deborah Hudson – President

Jenny Matkovich – Vice President/President-elect

Jenny Matkovich is an experienced marketer and results-driven leader in the complex, ever-changing world of marketing management and currently the  Marketing Director for MarketCast. Previously, she was the Director of Marketing for T2 Tech Group and product marketing portfolio manager for Cerner. She holds a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management from University of Iowa. Ephraim Freed – VP, Communications

Ephraim Freed is an employee experience strategist and leader who has spent the last decade working on the cutting edge of internal communications and intranets. He has developed digital platforms and communications programs within innovative global organizations including Riot Games and Oxfam America. As a marketing manager and consultant he has helped industry-leading firms such as the Digital Workplace Group and ThoughtFarmer drive change at client organizations


Delia Jourde – VP, Membership

Delia Jourde is director of employee experience at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where she serves as thought leader and strategic advisor to HR leadership to engage employees globally. She works in redesigning communications, examining workflows and enhancing technologies with other stakeholders across human resources. Previously as a communications consultant, Delia has worked in many industries including entertainment, technology, healthcare, government, academia, and nonprofit. She is experienced in communications strategy, implementation and measurement, crisis management, editing, event management, market research, product development, and public relations.


Eli Natinsky – VP, Operations

Eli Natinsky is a PR/marketing writer and project manager who thrives helping businesses and organizations achieve their marketing goals and objectives. He’s written and overseen the design and distribution of various print, online, and broadcast materials. His employers and clients have included both businesses and non-profits. Eli holds a master’s degree in Digital Media Arts & Technology from Michigan State University. Jenn Floto – VP

Jennifer Floto is a veteran public relations practitioner who has worked on both corporate and agency assignments. Her clients have included Acura, GTE, Mattel and Xerox. She spent 10 years at TRW before doing stints at two of the world’s leading agencies: Ketchum and Manning, Selvage & Lee. She has received numerous awards, including the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil and the International Association of Business Communicators’ Communicator of the Year. An accredited communicator, Floto continues to consult with such clients as the Beach Cities Symphony, Rotary International and the Keck School of Medicine. Floto was named “Professor of the Year” in 2006 and received the Mellon Mentoring Award in 2012.  She teaches an array of undergraduate and graduate courses and serves as adviser to TriSight, USC’s in-house PR agency, and PRSSA.


Tery Amaya – VP, Networking

Tery Amaya is a marketing communications professional working in the non-profit sector dedicated to combating the homeless crisis. Previously, she managed large-scale federally funded educational materials and service contracts throughout the United States. She holds a master’s degree in Communications Management from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from California State University Fullerton. Grant Skakun – Director of Newsletter

Grant Skakun is an instructor at Eucrest Writing where he helps organizations improve communication and achieve results by delivering business writing training seminars. He also writes and edits business documents, and he coaches professionals on improving their writing performance.


Karen Trachtenberg – Director of Social Media

Karen Trachtenberg is a freelance writer and communicator in the entertainment and health industries where she helps bring personal stories of her clients to life. She also works in employee and internal communications departments and has helped companies strengthen internal branding campaigns and measure employee engagement. Originally from Phoenix (by way of Cape Town, South Africa), Karen moved to Los Angeles 18 years ago to pursue her dreams.


Julie Wright

Julie Wright is President of (W)right On Communications, Inc., the award-winning, integrated strategic communications firm she founded in 1998. Wright and her team elevate the agency experience through fresh insights, savvy services and measurable results for clients. With offices in Los Angeles, San Diego and Vancouver, B.C.; Wright oversees programs combining earned, owned, shared and paid media strategies to reach client goals.
