Accreditation

ADVANCE YOUR COMMUNICATIONS CAREER

IABC’s internationally recognized accreditation program is the hallmark of professional achievement for business communicators. Accredited members practicing around the world apply the same strategic management process in all communication disciplines, across diverse cultures, and in for-profit and nonprofit organizations of all sizes.

This peer-reviewed program gives you the chance to demonstrate your knowledge of strategic communication planning, implementation, measurement and ethics. Candidates who meet all requirements earn the designation Accredited Business Communicator (ABC).

WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME ACCREDITED

The ABC designation illustrates that you have successfully met a global standard in organizational communication. You have a specific level of education and experience as a business communicator. Your work has demonstrated that you can think strategically, establish meaningful goals and objectives, and measure your success. As an Accredited Business Communicator, you join a global network of public relations practitioners, internal communication experts and consultants whose professional achievements are recognized by peers, employers and clients alike.

RECEIVE YOUR GLOBAL ACCREDITATION IN THREE STEPS

  1. Application
  2. Qualification (the portfolio)
  3. Examination (written and oral)

Applicants  must successfully complete each step before proceeding to the next.

WHAT LA CHAPTER ABCs ARE SAYING ABOUT ACCREDITATION

“Earning my ABC has given me confidence in knowing that my capabilities as a professional communicator are aligned with a globally recognized standard of excellence. The accreditation has added value to the services I provide for U.S.-based and international clients.” – Pamela Corante-Hansen, ABC. Principal, Letra Nova Communications

“Attaining my accreditation definitely made an impact on my career. I felt more confident in my communication skills and knowledge. That motivated me to broaden my outlook, which then began opening doors. These led not only to other employment opportunities, but to involvement with the international accreditation community, which has been even more rewarding.” – Nick Durutta, ABC. Vice President, The Capital Group Companies

“With my accreditation, I was able to qualify to teach public relations for a university. Normally one needs a master’s degree in the appropriate subject area to teach. The university regarded my accreditation as equivalent to a master’s in public relations in combination with my master’s in political science. My ABC expanded my career possibilities.” – Bill Spaniel, ABC. Public Relations Manager, California Society of CPAs
